There's a Different Way to Do Dance

We love dance, and we care deeply about teaching it well. But just as important to us is creating a place where dancers feel known, supported, challenged, and excited to come back each week.

Our teachers take the time to get to know the dancers in their classes. We celebrate progress, encourage them through challenges, and give them room to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow.

We believe great training and a great experience belong together. Dancers can work hard, develop discipline, build confidence, and become stronger dancers while still having a studio that feels like a place they belong.

Because how dancers feel while they’re learning matters just as much as what they learn.

We Teach Dance, Not Just Dances.

There’s so much more to learning dance than learning choreography. At Center Stage, we want our dancers to understand what they’re doing, build strong foundations, and develop skills they can carry with them as they grow.

Throughout the season, dancers learn technique, terminology, musicality, movement quality, and artistry, while also learning choreography and preparing for opportunities to perform.

For some dancers, that journey continues beyond Center Stage. Many of our graduating seniors have gone on to continue dancing in college, something we’re incredibly proud of. For others, dance remains something they simply love doing.

Either way, our goal is to give every dancer a strong dance education and a lasting appreciation for the art form.

We want our dancers to leave Center Stage knowing more than a dance. We want them to know more about dance.

The Dance Season

Our regular dance season runs August through June, and dancers attend the same weekly class throughout the season.

That consistency gives dancers time to build skills, get to know their teachers and classmates, and grow throughout the year. As the season progresses, classes also begin preparing for our annual recital in June.

What to Wear

What dancers wear depends on the class, but we keep it pretty simple! Hair should be secured away from the face, and dancers should wear the appropriate dancewear and shoes for their style.

Ballet-based classes typically require a leotard and tights, while many of our other classes allow form-fitting dancewear like leggings, shorts, and tank tops.

Recital

Our annual recital is in June! It's the big finish to our dance season and gives dancers the chance to share what they've learned with their family and friends!

We'll guide families through everything they need along the way, including costumes, picture days, rehearsals, tickets, and performance information. You won't be expected to figure recital out on your own.

Your First Class

Your dancer's first class should feel exciting, not intimidating! Arrive a few minutes early so there's plenty of time to find their studio, change shoes, use the restroom, and get settled before class begins.

Bring their dance shoes and a water bottle. If you're not sure where to go or what to do when you arrive, just ask. We're happy to help get everyone where they need to be.

Questions?

Just Ask.

Being new means you're probably going to have questions, and that's completely normal. Whether you're wondering about classes, attire, tuition, recital, or something you didn't even know you needed to ask yet, we're here to help.

You can always reach out to us, and we'll point you in the right direction.
