Can My Child Try a New Dance Style?
Your dancer loves their class. Then one day they see another class through the window, try a few moves at home, and announce that that is what they want to do now.
Do they have to switch classes? Sign up for two? Know whether they’ll be good at it?
Nope. They can start by trying it.
Follow their curiosity
Different styles give dancers different things to enjoy. A child who loves the rhythm of tap might be curious about hip hop. A ballet dancer might want to see what contemporary feels like. Someone who enjoys performing might light up in musical theater or Pom.
They don’t need a convincing reason. “That looks fun” is a perfectly good place to begin.
Try the class before making a decision
At Center Stage Dance, Discovery Classes aren’t only for new families. Current students can try an age-appropriate new style for free, too. They get to meet the teacher, move with the class, and find out whether they actually enjoy it.
Trying a class doesn’t mean they have to add it to their schedule. Afterward, we can talk about whether it’s a good fit now, whether a different class makes more sense, or whether they’d rather stick with what they already love.
Let us help with the fit
Classes are organized by age and level, and some require additional preparation or placement. If your dancer points to a style they’re excited about, tell us. We’ll help find an appropriate starting point and explain what to expect.
Sometimes trying something new becomes their favorite part of the week. Sometimes they discover that the class they already take is still their favorite. Either way, they learned something useful about themselves.
If your dancer at Center Stage Dance in Elkhorn is curious about another style, just reach out. We’d be happy to help them give it a try.
